About Spot & Tango Fresh Dog Food

Spot & Tango is a dog food company that creates personalized meals for your pet and delivers them to you each month as part of a subscription service. The website provides a quiz to help you learn your dog’s personalized plan.

    UnKibble

    Spot & Tango Unkibble products

As we mentioned earlier, UnKibble is Spot & Tango’s version of dry kibble. However, it’s slow-dried instead of extruded like traditional kibble, using a method called Fresh Dry that works to preserve the nutrients in the food. The kibble contains only 100% fresh ingredients with no artificial colors, preservatives, or meat byproducts.

    Unkibble Recipes
    • Beef and Barley
    • Chicken and Brown Rice

    Fresh Food

Spot & Tango Fresh Food products

Like the UnKibble, the Fresh line of food uses only high-quality human-grade ingredients with no chemical preservatives, artificial colors, or meat byproducts. It provides your pet with a complete and balanced meal that is suitable for puppies as well as adults. They cook all the food in small batches in a USDA-certified kitchen.

    Fresh Food Recipes
    • Turkey and Red Quinoa
    • Beef and Millet
    • Lamb and brown rice

    Two Week Trial

Spot & Tango provides new users with a 2-week trial that allows them to sign up and receive 2 weeks of food. If your dog doesn’t love it, you can cancel your subscription, and they will return your money. Signing up puts you on the subscription plan, but you can cancel it anytime.

    Subscription

The subscription plan offered by Spot & Tango is flexible and allows your pet to get food every week, 2 weeks, 4 weeks, or 8 weeks. Therefore, your pet will never run out of food.

How Much Does Spot & Tango Cost?

The cost of a Spot & Tango subscription depends on the meal plan you select. UnKibble plans start at about $1 per day, while the fresh meals start at about $2. The size of your dog will be the biggest factor, as larger dogs require more food.

    Pros

There are many pros to feeding your pet Spot & Tango fresh dog food. You get three protein options: turkey, beef, or lamb, and all ingredients are human-grade and locally sourced. An online algorithm helps you choose the proper meal, and the food can be soft or hard. There are no additives or fillers, and it usually arrives in about 2 days, after which your subscription plan will ensure your pet never runs out. The 2-week trial plan allows your pet to try the food before you commit to the monthly subscription plan.

    Cons

Unfortunately, Spot & Tango also has a few cons. It can get quite expensive, especially if you have more than one dog. We also found it challenging to determine the exact ingredients since they are hidden behind a proprietary recipe that they keep secret.

Recall History of Spot & Tango

As of September 6, 2022, Spot and Tango announced a recall of four batches of its UnKibble Dog Food line due to potential contamination with Salmonella bacteria. The recalled products include specific lot codes and SKU numbers: T-22220 U-C-004, T-22223 U-C-005, and T-22220 U-C-006 in sizes of 28oz, 38oz, 47oz, and 56oz. The recall follows FDA testing that detected Salmonella in the affected samples, prompting the company to halt distribution while the FDA continues its investigation.

    What Other Users Are Saying

It’s difficult to find reviews online for Spot & Tango Fresh Dog Food because you can only purchase it through their website, so there are no Amazon or Chewy reviews. Looking at the Spot & Tango website, the reviews are overwhelmingly positive, with the food receiving 4.9 out of 5 stars with 494 reviews posted at the time of this writing. Here is what some of the people were saying.

    1. I have ordered the unkibble but not received it yet, but I'm crossing my fingers. My dog is very fussy and we cook liver and steak for her every day. We have tried other services with no luck, but she was younger, so were hopeful. Their beef recipe has beef and beef liver, so we are hopeful, plus it has more vitamins that we are adding with a supplement. The cost weekly is almost exactly the same as we spend without cooking or shopping, but yes, we are comparing kibble to fresh. She did like one kibble but the company stopped making it, Other dog services food was always a no.

      1. Hello Allen,

thank you for your message. We hope that your dog will be happy with the unkibble and that it will be his new favorite healthy food!

    2. I just delivered 8 bags of Spot & Tango dog food to the humane society and maybe those dogs will eat it. I tried many times to contact the company and they blocked me, I guess so as not to refund my money. The beef barley was ok but the fish stunk so bad I couldn’t stand it and the dogs didn’t want it either.
