China’s Cutest (Corgi) Police Officer: Back in Hot Water!

Share

Dogster_Barking News China's Cutest Police Officer

Earlier this year, we all fell in love with Fuzai, the world’s first Police Corgi, who had surpassed his training expectations, only to be let down by a couple of minor indiscretions, including falling asleep on the job and peeing in his water bowl. Since then, Fuzai has been on his best behavior, keeping his chin up and his nose clean. Sadly, however, he has been let down by the very characteristic he was hired for – his sense of smell.

During a routine patrol last month, Fuzai disgraced himself by taking a passing bite of a young admirer’s sausage. Unperturbed, the little girl continued to eat her tasty snack; at least, what was left of it!

Some of Fuzai’s 400,000 followers have rushed to defend Fuzai’s honor, suggesting that he was merely checking the food for illicit substances. His handler clearly thinks otherwise, stating that they will be taking steps to improve the rookie’s impulse control.

Fuzai shot to fame after he completed months of rigorous training to make his professional debut as an explosive detection expert in October 2024, surpassing many of his fellow canine trainees. He has been previously commended for passing his Level 4 police dog assessment and boosting the morale and public image of the Weifang Public Security Bureau’s canine unit. His end-of-year review hit a bit of a rough patch with the aforementioned napping and urination blunders, which only increased his popularity.

This latest gaffe has been met with similar warmth, particularly when he visited the young victim at her kindergarten to make amends. Armed with two sausages and a collection of Fuzai-themed memorabilia, the lovable Corgi quickly made amends. The little girl’s mother reportedly stated that all was forgiven and announced, “I hope both Fuzai and my daughter grow up healthy and happy. Stay strong, Fuzai.”

We hope this latest incident will not be viewed too harshly by his superiors and that Fuzai will get more chances to prove himself.
